Friday, April 6, 2001 | 10:20 a.m.
Players Network Inc. of Las Vegas reported a loss of $1.2 million, or 14 cents per share, for the year ending Dec. 31. That's essentially unchanged from last year, though loss per share was reduced by 9 cents per share due to a large increase in shares outstanding.
Company revenues increased 89 percent to $835,000 -- however, $307,000 of recognized revenue came from magazine advertising received in exchange for production services and advertising spots provided by Players Network. In 1999, such revenues were $102,000.
The company did not break out its earnings for the quarter ending Dec. 31.
Players Network operates an Internet site that supplies gaming-related content, e-commerce and video programming. It also operates a 24-hour, gaming and entertainment-focused cable television network piped directly into casino hotel rooms. The company's stock trades over-the-counter.
