Coalition schedules recruitment drive

The Southern Nevada Mentoring Coalition is presenting a recruitment drive at a reception 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday at University United Methodist Church, 4412 S. Maryland Parkway.

The coalition will unveil its recruitment video and introduce its new Speakers' Bureau of mentors and mentoring experts. The Speakers' Bureau will be making appearances at service clubs, student organizations, businesses and other sites throughout the valley.

Seminar to be held on Tuesday

"Understanding 'Do Not Resuscitate' Orders and Issues" is the topic of the next "After Hours Program" to be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the West Flamingo Center, 6255 W. Flamingo Road.

A representative of the Clark County Health District's Emergency Medical Services Department will provide information on how this very personal wish is honored in an emergency situation.

Interested individuals may register for the seminar by coming into the center to sign up and pay before Saturday. For more information, call 455-8200.

Committee fighting dump seeks volunteers

The Save Nevada Grass-Roots Committee is seeking volunteers to help bring the business community, government and citizens together to help fight a proposed nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain, 90 miles northwest of Las Vegas.

The Southern Nevada Group of the Sierra Club
