Man, 19, charged in June killing
A 19-year-old man was booked into the Clark County jail Wednesday accused of the June killing of a 27-year-old Las Vegas man.
Christian Velasquez was booked on charges of murder, attempted murder and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle in connection with the June 29 shooting death of Oscar Ramirez-Gomez.
A resident called Metro Police about 12:10 a.m. June 29 reporting shots being fired in the 2700 block of Jansen Avenue. A few minutes later, another resident called and reported a man was found shot in a van in the 2800 block of Searles Avenue -- about two blocks away from the first call.
Apparently Ramirez-Gomez had been riding in a van with two other people. A gunman in another car fired several shots into the van hitting Ramirez-Gomez. The two people in the van drove Ramirez-Gomez to his home on Searles Avenue, knocked on the front door and then ran away, police said.
Residents of the house found Ramirez-Gomez in the van. He was taken to University Medical Center, but later died, police said. No motive for the shooting was released.
Two armed men hold up cage
Henderson Police are investigating a Thursday night robbery at the Reserve hotel-casino.
Two armed men entered the casino at about 9 p.m., took an undisclosed amount of money from a change cage and then escaped in an unidentified vehicle, police said.
No one was hurt in the robbery at the casino located on Lake Mead Drive just off U.S. 95.
