Letter: ACLU must come to aid
Friday, Sept. 29, 2000 | 11:53 a.m.
I thought Dean Juipe's column on sports betting in Nevada ("It's time for Nevada to secede," Sept. 15) was right on target, but what is someone going to do about the proposed sports wagering ban?
We should get the American Civil Liberties Union involved. The ACLU has defended people's right to view pornography so why not someone's right to wager on sports -- especially when there are legit legal issues (states rights, freedom of speech) and jobs at stake?
If you get the ball rolling and stop the feds, you will be a hero in Las Vegas.
