Ethics board to mull allegations against Arberry

The Las Vegas Ethics Review Board will hold an evidentiary session Oct. 19 to determine whether enough evidence exists to proceed with a full hearing into alleged misconduct by Morse Arberry, deputy director of the city's Neighborhood Services department.
Arberry is accused of using his position as chairman of the Assembly's Ways and Means Committee to appropriate $2.8 million for a local development for which Arberry's mortgage company is a lender.
The Oct. 19 hearing, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in the eighth-floor conference room at City Hall, will determine whether a complaint filed by North Las Vegas resident John Hortas has merit.
Hortas alleges Arberry should have disclosed the relationship his company, Sahara Mortgage Co., had with Community Development Programs Center of Nevada.
The development company is building affordable homes at the former Gersen Park public housing site.
