Two-wheel star Johnny Campbell has drawn the first motorcycle starting position and veteran desert racer Craig Corda will drive the first Trophy-Truck to leave the start line in the Tecate SCORE Baja 200 on Nov. 12.
There were 187 official entries in 23 classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs included in the drawing. Twenty-two of the entries are from Nevada and 19 are from Southern Nevada.
Campbell's Class 22 Honda XR650R will be the first official starter at 6 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 12. Corda's Ford F-150 Trophy-Truck will lead the featured division for car and truck classes two hours after the last ATV starts the odyssey from Ensenada to Cabo San Lucas on the Baja California peninsula.
The featured SCORE Trophy-Truck division had 15 entries in time for the drawing. Besides Corda, other top teams included NASCAR Winston Cup racer Robby Gordon in a Ford F-150, Las Vegas brothers Tim and Ed Herbst in another Ford F-150, Chevy's Larry Ragland of Phoenix, Chevy's Walker Evans of Riverside, Calif., and Toyota's Ivan Stewart, Alpine, Calif.
Among the other racers to draw first starting positions within their respective classes were: Las Vegas' Troy Herbst (Class 1) and Sammy Ehrenberg (Class 1-2/1600); George Seeley Jr. (Class 5); Eric Hardin (Class 7S); and Bob Shepard (SS/Truck).
