Woman sentenced for allowing daughter to gamble at Kansas City casino

Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000 | 8:52 a.m.

Carla Jean Wilson, 41, of Ash Grove, Mo., was sentenced to six months of supervised probation in Clay County Circuit Court for her three-day gambling spree in June.

A condition of Wilson's probation is that she have no contact with riverboat casinos, or face up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.

Station Casino Kansas City and Harrah's North Kansas City Casino & Hotel have been fined $250,000 by the Missouri Gaming Commission for allegedly not preventing Wilson's daughter from gambling. The casinos have until early next month to pay the fines or appeal.

Gaming officials said the girl was with her mother for at least part of their three-day gambling spree.

The girl, who was said to appear much older than her years, presented another person's driver's license to Station employees during the evening of June 9 and was admitted to the casino. Until Sunday morning, that ID fooled pit bosses, bartenders, card dealers and others.

Earlier on June 9, the girl also was admitted to Harrah's Mardi Gras casino boat and was able to gamble.
