Paris Las Vegas dealers fight for union reading
Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000 | 5:34 a.m.
Casino dealers at a Las Vegas Strip resort allege management is interfering with their right to improve working conditions by banning union and other job-related literature.
The National Federation of Gaming Employees has filed charges against the Paris hotel-casino with the National Labor Relations Board concerning the allegations.
"This case is about a law that has been in place for decades and its provisions are well understood by all knowledgeable business leaders," said Jack Lipsman, federation vice president. "One wonders why Park Place Entertainment, one of the world's leading gaming corporations, would make such an egregious error?"
Paris is owned by Park Place Entertainment, the world's largest gaming corporation.
While company officials have yet to see the complaint, a spokesman for Park Place said that the company has done nothing illegal.
