Salmon finally show in Taylor Creek

The fish will be there too.
The bright red salmon are putting in a belated appearance at Taylor Creek, easing fears that they might miss their own party.
Unseasonably warm temperatures are believed responsible for a lack of any Kokanee in the creek, but the arrival of fall and a corresponding temperature drop last Friday apparently prompted some fish to leave adjoining Lake Tahoe and enter the creek.
Spawning fish will lay eggs and remain by them until they die. Fish that hatch from the eggs will return to Taylor Creek in three to five years to repeat the process.
The Kokanee festival will be held Saturday and Sunday and includes such events as foot races and interpretive talks.
On the down side - for the fish, at least - there also is a salmon barbecue.
