Mark Dodson, executive vice president of Park Place Entertainment Corp. of Las Vegas, was elected chairman of the Nevada Resort Association effective this coming Sunday. He succeeds Mike Sloan, senior vice president at Mandalay Resort Group.
Dodson is responsible for nine gaming properties in the West and four international properties for Park Place, the world's largest gaming company.
The NRA represents many Nevada casino resorts. Dodson will oversee policy development, legislative outreach, budgeting, coordination with the American Gaming Association and will help in managing day-to-day affairs for the association.
Bill Bible is the NRA's president in charge of daily operations.
In a statement, Bible said Dodson will lead the effort to defeat a gaming tax proposal in the Legislature that Bible said "unfairly singles out Nevada's No. 1 industry and No. 1 employer."
