Eugene Herman Bender

Eugene Herman Bender, 89, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born Aug. 14, 1911, in Wisconsin. A resident for eight years, he was an owner of a motel and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Eileen; and one brother, Frank Bender of Wisconsin.

Visitation will be 9-9:30 a.m. Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be 10:30 a.m in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Peter S. Calvanese

Peter S. Calvanese, 83, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 24, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired Mint hotel-casino manager, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Fleet Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Josephine; one son, Dr. Jerry C. Calvanese of Reno; one sister, Annie DeVito, and two brothers, James Calvanese and Jerry Calvanese, all of New York; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Las Vegas Catholic Church, 3050 Alta Drive. Burial will follow in Eden Vale Memorial Park.

Martin Edward Carpio

Martin Edward Carpio, 37, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born July 18, 1963, in Tucson. A resident for two years, he was a concrete finisher at Martin Harris Construction.

He is survived by his wife, Corrine Bracamonte-Carpio; one daughter, Mina Bea Carpio, two sons, Emilio Martin Carpio and Raymond Edward Carpio, four stepdaughters, Marissa Pena, Monica Pena, Jessica Pena and Jeannette Pena, and three stepsons, Tomas Pena, Tony Pena and Mario Pena, all of Nevada; his father, Jose Carpio, his mother, Guillermina Frogoso, and one sister, Martha Redendo, all of Tucson.

Visitation is scheduled 6 p.m. Thursday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Mass will be celebrated noon Friday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Burial will be private.

James Coner

James Coner, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born April 22, 1929, in Quitman, Miss. A resident for three years, he was a retired truck driver.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; two daughters, Jacqueline Anita Jones of Los Angeles and Coressia C. Coner of Las Vegas; one son, Larry James Coner of Los Angeles; one sister, Mary Hicks of Texas; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Second Baptist Church, 500 W. Madison Ave. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.

Richard A. Crook

Richard A. Crook, 65, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born March 25, 1935, in Carolina. A resident for 24 years, he was a retired Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Wandee; three sons, Thada Crook, Chaisith Crook and Richard Crook; one daughter, Rane Titrett; two brothers, Robert and Jim Crook; one sister, Annie Crook; and five grandchildren.,

Visitation is scheduled 2-4 p.m. Saturday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Virginia M. Diemer

Virginia M. Diemer, 73, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. She was born March 16, 1927, in Jersey City, N.J. A resident for 21 years, she was a retired hotel pantry worker.

She is survived by her husband, James; two sons, Albert of Bergenfield, N.J., and Garry of Monmouth, N.J.; one daughter, Debra of Virginia Beach, Va.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today and Thursday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

James Farino

James Farino, 84, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 6, 1916, in Quaker Ridge, N.Y. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired butcher and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Theresa; two sons, Michael Farino and James Farino Jr., both of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 4-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services are scheduled 11 a.m. Thursday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Thomas Rolin Hutton Sr.

Thomas Rolin Hutton Sr., 70, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 18, 1929, in Nebraska. A resident for 30 years, he was a Western Union field technician, a Navy veteran and a member of Nevada Car Owners Association.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; four sons, Raymond Andrew Hutton, Thomas Rolin Hutton Jr., Gregory Hutton and Jerry Hengst; two brothers, John Hutton and William Hutton; one sister, Catherine Hutton; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial is scheduled 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Chapel, Boulder City.

Darin Johnson

Darin Johnson, 34, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 22, 1965, in LaMirada, Calif. A resident for three years, he was a firefighter and a Marines Corps veteran.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela Johnson, and his father, Thomas Mastronardo, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Brett Johnson of Las Vegas and Cris Johnson of Hemet, Calif.; and his grandparents, Gertrude Mullins of Corning, Calif., and William O'Donnell of Mansfield, Ark.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

Patricia Ann Landrith

Patricia Ann Landrith, 54, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 28, 1946, in Corpus Christi, Texas. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three sons, Sam Rios, Mike Rios and John Rios, all of Las Vegas; and one brother, Tom Landrith.

Visitation is scheduled 3-8 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services are private.

Mathew N. Lusk

Mathew N. Lusk, 75, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born Feb. 24, 1925, in LaCrosse, Wis. A resident for nine years, he retired in brewery marketing and was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Susan Kenney of Cleveland; one son, Matthew Lusk of Las Vegas; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Carroll McGunigle

Carroll McGunigle, 82, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born March 9, 1918, in Zurich, Switzerland. A resident for 16 years, she was a retail sales manager for 10 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Joan Wayne of Las Vegas; one grandson and one great-grandson.

Private services are being held. Nevada Funeral Service, 725 S. Casino Center Blvd., Suite 208, is handling arrangements.

Carl Moose

Carl Moose, 72, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for 15 years, he was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Rhodhiss, N.C.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; four sons, Carl Eugene Moose of Illinois, Carl Marvin Moose of Utah, and John Saft and Bobby Saft, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Carla Meek of Henderson and Judy Moose and Kathy Saft, both of Las Vegas; one brother, Robert Moose, and four sisters, Rose Church, Pearl Huffman, Betty Robinson and Doris Lewis, all of North Carolina; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. services Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Verl Andrew Neilsen

Verl Andrew Neilsen, 94, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. He was born Oct. 9, 1905, in Rigby, Idaho. A resident for 35 years, he was a gardening laborer.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; three daughters, Donna Hall of Henderson, Ila Slack of Washington, Utah, and Linda Short of Salt Lake City; four stepchildren; one sister, Elva Barrie of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the LDS Ocean Street chapel, Henderson. Burial will be in Idaho.

William Frederick Ogan

William Frederick Ogan, 74, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 27, 1926, in Grantville, Kan. A resident for two years, he was a retired masonry contractor and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Dave Ogan, Michael Sean Ogan and Dan Ogan, one daughter, Sharon DeLuca, and his companion, Valerie Strunk; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Louis Petranek

Louis Petranek, 46, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A resident for many years, he was born Oct. 26, 1953.

Graveside services were scheduled at 9:30 a.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Jessie Mae Pinkman

Jessie Mae Pinkman, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 17, 1923, in Colorado. A resident for one year, she was a retired church administrator.

She is survived by one daughter, Debra Moore of Lynnwood, Wash.; one son, Brant Pinkman of Las Vegas; one sister, Ruby Stewart of Kent, Wash.; one brother, William Ellenberger of Seattle; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Thomas R. Rennie Sr.

Thomas R. Rennie Sr., 56, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born June 24, 1944, in San Francisco. A resident for 19 years, he was a telephone company employee and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Laurie Rennie of Las Vegas; one son, Thomas Rennie Jr. of Windsor, Calif.; one sister, Beth Day of Georgia; two brothers, Ken Day of Texas and Les Day of California; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Elizabeth Santarini

Elizabeth Santarini, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. She was born Aug. 8, 1920, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 21 years, she was a retired gift shop clerk.

She is survived by two sons, Peter Santarini of Las Vegas and Fred Kieffer of Anaheim, Calif.; one sister, Frances of Buffalo; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Frank Michael Schnekser, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 10, 1918, in Philadelphia. A resident for seven years, he retired as an Air Force colonel after 32 years of service and was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine F.; one son, Francis Michael Schnekser of Chesapeake, Va.; four daughters, Karen Cwynar of Blaine, Wash., Jolie Will of Blackfoot, Idaho, Marie Markel of Silverthorne, Colo., and Jo Anne Parrish of Santa Fe, N.M.; one sister, Elizabeth Klekot of Riverside, N.J.; 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 9:30 a.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North handled arrangements.

Irene Serle

Irene Serle, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. She was born Sept. 27, 1918, in the Bronx, N.Y. A resident for 18 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Isidore; one daughter, Joan Weiner of New York; one son, Steven Serle of Boca Raton, Fla.; one sister, Lillian Sheroff of Queens, N.Y.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; two daughters, Michele Carson of Chandler, Ariz., and Leslie Ellestad of Globe, Ariz.; four sons, Clay Mills of Globe, Ronald Eggers of Casa Grande, Ariz., Scott Swanson of Mesa, Ariz., and Trevor Swanson of Washington state; and 13 grandchildren.

Michael Votta II, 69, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born July 20, 1931, in Sayreville, N.J. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired aerospace logistic supervisor and Korean War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Fate; three sons, Stephen Votta, Mark Votta and Antonio Votta, all of Las Vegas; one daughter, Victoria Ruano of Carson City; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Betty Ann Woodworth, 63, of Pahrump died Monday in Pahrump. She was born July 16, 1937, in Pueblo, Colo. A resident for one year, she was a nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; six sons, Kirt Yates of Grand Junction, Ralph Malloy Yates of New Castle, Wyo., Thomas Allen Yates of Las Vegas, Roger Lee Woodworth of Los Angeles, Douglas Allen Woodworth of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Don Paul Yates of Fruita, Calif.; three daughters, Linda Murphey of Las Vegas, Jenny Lynn Nelson of Grand Junction and Sharon Rae Wilson of LaRue, Ohio; 19 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
