NLV man injured in accident
A 37-year-old North Las Vegas man was in serious condition in University Medical Center this morning after he was struck by a pickup, whose driver fled after the accident Tuesday.
David Peterson was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard near Pecos Road -- outside a crosswalk -- about 9:50 p.m. Tuesday and apparently walked into the path of a pickup driven by Lloyd Beard, 40, of Las Vegas, Metro Police said.
Police said the pickup driver fled the scene after the accident, but a witness followed the truck and wrote down the license plate number.
Beard apparently drove to his brother's North Las Vegas business and took one of the company trucks. He then drove to his brother's house, who took him to Metro Northwest substation where he surrendered, police said.
Beard was booked into the Clark County jail on felony hit and run and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charges.
BLM seeks public comment

Starting Nov. 15 the public will have 30 days to review the document and submit comments on the strategy in which officials plan to address policy on off-road driving, public land access and environmental concerns.
After the deadline passes, the agency plans to review all the input and finalize its new strategy.
