Letter: Ensign hits new political low
Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000 | 9:51 a.m.
He once said, "Social Security is a terrible idea, we used to take care of old people and now we expect the government to do it."
Now we see him in political ads portraying himself as the savior of Social Security. He has gone from saboteur to savior in a wink of an eye.
How is it the press has not questioned him on this incredible flip-flop?
We seniors are known for our failing memories, but you'd have to have Alzheimer's disease to buy into this one.
It is insulting that he thinks that we can be that easily manipulated. We may be naive but we are not stupid!
This is like Colonel Sanders telling the chickens he is here to save them. This is a new low even for the sometimes tawdry political arena.
