Less than a year after taking a job with Shonkwiler Marcoux Associates, Clark County Commissioner Dario Herrera has left his post at the public relations firm.
Herrera cited personal reasons for leaving the company. Herrera, a student at UNLV's Boyd School of Law and a representatives of District G, recently moved into a new house and he and his wife, Emily, are expecting their first child.
"I left because it was becoming increasingly difficult to balance my responsibilities at SMA with my responsibility to my constituents," Herrera said. "My wife and I are are expecting our first baby and when you go through that, your priorities seem to shift."
Herrera said he is not ruling out the possibility of finding another job, but added the next time will be under his own terms.
"If I do something again, it will be on my own terms," Herrera said. "I will have more control over my commitment than I did under SMA."
