Station Casinos, through its Smart Start project, is helping five Clark County School District elementary schools by donating $2,500 to each school for student and school supplies.
The partnerships, part of the school district's Focus Schools project, also will provide each of the school's computer labs with computers, along with other equipment. Additionally, Station Casinos employees will volunteer to help with school events and offer teachers support in the classroom. Student and teacher award programs also will be sponsored.
Events scheduled for this year include a family math and science nights, a back pack night, a fall jacket drive and food drives at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The partnerships between the casinos and schools include Palace Station and Rex Bell Elementary, Boulder Station and Laura Dearing Elementary, Texas Station and C.P. Squires Elementary, Sunset Station and Lorna Kesterson and Station Casinos, Inc. and Whitney Elementary.
As part of its partnership with C.P. Squires Elementary since 1996, Texas Station has raised over $64,000 for the school. In addition, Texas Station has sponsored a multicultural arts festival, developed a complete computer lab and provided maintenance assistance to upgrade the school grounds.
