New justice center stirs up trouble in Reno

Washoe County Clerk Amy Harvey opposes the proposal facing voters on the Nov. 7 general election ballot. The Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce has refused to endorse it.
But county judges will launch an $80,000 advertising campaign on its behalf beginning Tuesday.
The judges have enlisted the support of community leaders such as television judge Mills Lane, former Rep. Barbara Vucanovich, R-Nev., and state Department of Motor Vehicles chief Dick Kirkland.
The leaders will appear in television and radio ads on behalf of the plans for the modern downtown courthouse.
County commissioners and the Reno City Council will hold a joint meeting Monday to finalize the city's plans for locating Reno Municipal Court in the proposed complex.
Judges say the new justice center is needed because they've outgrown the current facilities.
