Letter: LV Dodgers a great idea

Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 | 6:30 a.m.

Regarding Ron Kantowski's column on the Las Vegas Stars' new affiliation with the LA Dodgers ("LV Dodgers sure has a nice ring to it," Sept. 21):

Speaking as a lifelong Dodger fan and a resident of Las Vegas for two years, I was doing cartwheels with the announcement of the Stars changing their affiliation to the Dodgers.

Last season when the Albuquerque Dukes (the Dodgers' former triple-A affiliate) came to town I attended two games and was impressed with the facility at Cashman Field. But next year I will probably attend 10 games or more and wear Dodger blue.

I think your idea of changing the name and team colors to a Dodger theme is an absolute home run and would help boost attendance to record levels in the first year.
