Keystone II Cinema in Reno closed

The 695-seat Keystone II Cinema, located at the Reno Hilton, shut its doors Sunday night in a move blamed on declining profits.
"After 18 years as an important element in the cultural life of this community, the Keystone is no longer a viable business in today's competitive movie theater market," said theater owner Lyndy Mercer.
"It is with great sadness that we announce the closing of the Keystone."
The theater opened on Keystone Avenue west of downtown Reno in 1982 and had been at what is now the Reno Hilton since 1988.
Mercer attributed the profit decline to a variety of factors, including an increase in local movie screens and a lack of critically acclaimed movies.
The closure leaves three Century theater complexes and the El Rancho Drive-In as the only movie theaters in the Reno area.
