Cluster of accidents near Reno leads to death, injuries
Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 | 4:51 a.m.
Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Troy Lindley said there were 13 accidents over a rainy 90-minute period ending at 5 p.m., 10 of which were on U.S. Highway 395 south of Reno.
"People are simply driving too fast for conditions," he said. "This is the first storm of the season and people are going too fast."
A moped rider was killed in an accident on U.S. Highway 50 four miles west of Carson City. Details were still unavailable Saturday, and the victim's name was withheld pending notification of family members.
Four people were sent to a Reno hospital after a four-vehicle collision on Highway 395 in Pleasant Valley south of Reno.
"There's no doubt visibility from the amount of rain was probably a factor," Lindley said.
