State Sen. Jon Porter's run for Congress has been targeted by a gun-control group.
Handgun Control said Tuesday it plans to mount a $4 million ad campaign against 12 Republicans running for Congress, including Porter and Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush.
Porter, of Henderson, is running against first-term Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev.
The group, which includes gun-control advocate Sarah Brady, called Bush and Cheney "the most dangerous candidates for American families, neighborhoods and communities." Meet and greet
The National Association for Female Executives will host a senatorial candidate meet-and-greet event at 6:15 p.m. Oct. 11 at Towbin Nissan Superstore, 295 Auto Mall Drive, Henderson.
Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP to 226-7201, or send e-mail to nafee@lasvegas.com.
