The Clark County Public Education Foundation is honoring Las Vegas Sun Publisher Barbara Greenspun and her family with the 2000 Education Hero Award.
The award will be presented Saturday during a sold-out event at the Four Seasons.
"Not a day goes by without the lives of thousands of Las Vegas students being touched in some way by the vast generosity of Barbara Greenspun and her family," Sig Rogich, president of the foundation, said.
The Education Hero Award recognizes individuals and organizations throughout Nevada that have made significant civic and charitable contributions affecting public education.
Among the Greenspuns' many accomplishments are the creation of student scholarships made available through the Sun, the development of the Sun Youth Forum and the establishment of the Hank Greenspun School of Communications and the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs at UNLV.
