In his semifinal today, Mintenko placed fourth in 53.00 and is seeded fifth going into Friday's finals. That race will be televised by NBC on its 7 p.m.-midnight segment on Friday night.
Current UNLV swimmer Andrew Livingston, representing Puerto Rico, placed third in his 100 butterfly heat in 55.03, but didn't advance to the semis.
New Zealand next plays the U.S. The game will be televised on NBC during its noon-6 p.m. segment on Saturday afternoon.
