Internet grocer to employ 900 in Vegas area

Webvan Group Inc. of Foster City, Calif., an Internet grocer founded by Louis Borders, co-founder of Borders Books, is scheduled to open its third national call center at a new business park in North Las Vegas by February 2001.
The company is expected to bring 900 jobs, said a press release issued by CB Richard Ellis. Webvan officials declined comment on the 900 worker figure.
CB Richard Ellis is the the broker of the 280,000-square-foot NorthPort Business Center, located near the North Las Vegas Airport. It said Webvan will lease 66,000 square feet of the business park's 125,000-square-foot first phase development.
Webvan offers online shopping with a courier service that delivers products into customers' homes within a 30-minute window of their choice.
