Gas prices shatter record

Gas prices in Nevada averaged a record $1.84 in Nevada, a AAA survey found Tuesday.
The previous statewide high was $1.80 on April 18.
Las Vegas prices averaged $1.80, up 13 cents from the last survey on Aug. 16. but below the local peak of $1.86 reached April 4.
Separately, First Security Bank said the cost of living in Las Vegas rose 0.4 percent in August thanks largely to a 3.3 percent rise in transportation costs. Transportation costs in the survey include gasoline prices, costs for auto maintenance and prices for auto insurance premiums.
