Maurice J. 'Maure' Acampora
Maurice J. "Maure" Acampora, 82, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local care center. He was born May 10, 1918, in Worcester, Mass. A resident for 44 years, he was a retired refrigeration technician at REECo, a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Elks.
He is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Walker, and one son, Merle Acampora, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Vincent Acampora of St. George, Utah, and Pat Kendel of California; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.
Richard L. Avery
Richard L. Avery, 70, of Meadview, Ariz., died Monday in a local hospital. He was born May 2, 1930, in Stamford, Conn. A former Las Vegas resident for 40 years, he was a retired moving truck driver and a Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Leta Broomfield of Meadview and Rebecca Cole of Las Vegas; two sons, David Dohme of Houston and William D. Dohme of Las Vegas; one sister, Alice Mills of Danbury, Conn.; two brothers, Walt Avery of Danbury and Eddie Avery of Moriah, N.Y.; seven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 301 S. Maryland Parkway. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.
Jerry J. Caselli
Jerry J. Caselli, 66, of Henderson died Monday in a local hospital. He was born April 25, 1934, in San Francisco. A resident for one year, he was a retired drug and alcohol director, a member of Alcoholics Anonymous and a volunteer for St. Rose De Lima Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; three sons, Steve Caselli of Sacramento, Tim Caselli of San Leandro, Calif., and John Wade of Seattle; one brother, John Caselli, and one sister, Marie Colombine, both of Daly City, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be in San Francisco. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.
Billie P. Copeland
Billie P. Copeland, 87, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. She was born Dec. 3, 1912, in Henrietta, Okla. A resident for 15 years, she was a retired teacher.
She is survived by one daughter, Georgie Sakowski of Las Vegas; four grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Emma Pearl Evans
Emma Pearl Evans, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 9, 1922, in Oklahoma. A resident for 27 years, she was an account executive for the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
She is survived by one son, David Evans.

Bonnie Romaine Falke
Bonnie Romaine Falke, 67, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Missouri. A resident for 11 years, she was a manager for an electronics firm.
She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Campbell of Las Vegas and Patricia Page of San Diego; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Esau Hayes
Esau Hayes, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Newellton, La. A resident for 47 years, he was a retired Desert Inn supervisor of 38 years.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa; one daughter, Alberta Williams of Las Vegas; three sisters, Joan Jasmin and Lily Gilbert, both of Chicago, and Florence Hardwick-Watson of Las Vegas; three brothers, Foster Hayes Jr. of Las Vegas, Nathaniel Hayes of Kansas City, Mo., and Feola Hayes of Tallulah, La.; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Grace Immanuel Baptist Church, 805 W. Bartlett Ave. Graveside services will follow at noon Saturday in Palm Memorial Park.
Ruth M. Jurak
Ruth M. Jurak, 87, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 11, 1912, in Baltimore. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by one daughter, Lois Renshaw of Las Vegas; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Edward A. Klaus
Edward A. Klaus, 98, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born May 9, 1902, in Buffalo, N.Y. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired pharmacist.
He is survived by two daughters, Carol Barden of Amhurst, N.Y., and Geri Kasmier of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be in Buffalo. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Elaine Teckla Litterski
Elaine Teckla Litterski, 72, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local convalescent center. She was born Sept. 23, 1927, in Illinois. A resident for 19 years, she was a church office administrator, a former member of the Polka Booster Club, Legion of Mary at Holy Family Church and a former member of the Chicago Club.
She is survived by one sister, Louise.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Family Catholic Church, 4490 Mountain Vista St. Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Hugh D. McPherson
Hugh D. McPherson, 75, of Las Vegas died Sept. 8 in a local health care center. He was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Seaside, Ore. A resident for seven years, he was a retired carpenter, a retired employee of Lawrence Livermore Radiation Laboratory and a World War II and Korean War Army veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; one son, Hugh Scott McPherson of Las Vegas; three daughters, Michelle McPherson, Colleen E. McPherson-Latham of Vacaville, Calif., and Patrice McPherson-Kersey of Las Vegas; five sisters, Myrtle Rae of Wenatchee, Wash., Emma Baker of Roseburg, Ore., Henrietta Phelps of Tacoma, Wash., Marjorie Hughson of Portland, Ore., and Zelma Hanson of Vancouver, Wash.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Thomas J. Mebert Jr., 59, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. An accountant and a veteran, he was born May 19, 1947, in New York.

Fred P. Meyers
Fred P. Meyers, 71, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. He was born May 8, 1929, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 22 years, he was a retired sales agent, a World War II Navy veteran and a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Patricia Fiumara of Pittsburgh and Christine Johnson of Henderson; three sons, Fred Meyers III of Cincinnati, T.J. Meyers of Henderson and Rusty Meyers of Las Vegas; one sister, Mary Calhoun of Onstead, Mich.; one brother, Ed Meyers of Columbus, Ohio; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be noon Thursday in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Glenda Mixon, 52, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born May 24, 1948, in Charleston, W.Va. A resident for 18 years, she was a convenience store manager.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie; one daughter, Tina Mendenhall, and one son, Lee Mendenhall, both of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Palm Chapel, Eastern. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park.

George Morris
George Morris, 80, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born June 9, 1920, in Wellington, Kan. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired Korean War Air Force veteran.
He is survived by three brothers, Raymond of Colorado, Floyd of Kansas and Lloyd of Texas; and eight sisters, Melba and Elsie of California, Evelyn of Colorado, Edna and Gloria, both of New Mexico, and Delores, Mildred and Juanita, all of Las Vegas.
Graveside services were scheduled at 12:30 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., handled arrangements.
B. Graham Peterson
B. Graham Peterson, 67, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Jamestown, N.D. A resident for two years, he was a retired salesman in educational art and a Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife, LaVonne; one daughter, Susan Garlic of St. Louis; three sons, Scott Peterson of Chesterfield, Mo., Andy Peterson of Ballwin, Mo., and Barnes Peterson of Keene, N.H.; two stepchildren, Lana Skeen of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Chris Nordhus of Minneapolis; two brothers, James Peterson of Auckland, New Zealand, and R.B. Peterson of St. Louis; the mother of his children, Peggy Peterson of Chesterfield, Mo.; and 14 grandchildren.

Gene R. Schwartz, 46, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. He was born May 28, 1954, in Gary, Ind. A resident for 27 years, he was a real estate salesman for 28 years.
He is survived by his fiancee, Hope Leinen, and one son, Dylan G. Schwartz, both of Las Vegas; his mother, Patricia Morris of Hayden Lake, Idaho; his father, Gene L. Schwartz of Portage, Ind.; one sister, Carley Italiano of Las Vegas; and his grandmother, Hilda J. Kowalczyk of Hayden Lake.

Carolyn 'Kay' Shaeffer
Carolyn "Kay" Shaeffer, 87, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 15, 1913, in Fredonia, N.Y. A resident for 58 years, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Michele Hulsizer and Patricia Angell, and one brother, Marvin Valone, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Sarah Leone of Brant, N.Y.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Burial will be private.
George Stratton
George Stratton, 44, of Las Vegas died Sunday in San Diego. He was born in 1955.
He is survived by his wife, Cici; one son, Christopher; and one daughter, Natalia.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. A reception will follow at the home of Kim and Debbie Gregory, 6242 W. Coley Ave.
The family suggests donations to the Stratton Children's Trust Fund.
Walter H. Walley
Walter H. Walley, 86, of Waterville, Ohio, died Monday in Waterville. A former Las Vegas resident, he was an insurance examiner for the state insurance divisions of California and Nevada and a member of the Largemont-Atwater Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy.
