Mayor’s call-in talk honored by national TV organization

Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000 | 10 a.m.

A national organization has determined what hundreds of Las Vegas channel surfers already know -- Mayor Oscar Goodman's call-in television show is fun to watch.

The National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Administrators awarded "Las Vegas Town Hall" a second place in the nationwide Interview Talk Show category.

The live, 60-minute call-in program on which viewers pose questions to Goodman and his guests is the most popular show on the city's fledgling KCLV cable Channel 2 based on the amount of feedback the station receives.

KCLV also won a second place award for "City Beat," a biweekly 30-minute program highlighting city departments and issues.

The city received the honors at the association's 15th annual government programming awards ceremony held over the weekend in Santa Monica, Calif.
