Inaugural fair set at Dula Center
The first New Resident Information Fair will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Dula Recreation Center, 441 E. Bonanza Road.
Information will be available on real estate, schools, finances, apartment rentals, insurance, city organizations, entertainment, health care and much more.
The Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services will have information on the numerous activities, programs, leagues and classes offered for all ages. For more information, call 233-0034.
Singer-author plans two visits
Jose Luis Orozco, noted author and recording star, will make an appearance at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave., and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Library, 833 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
Orozco, author of "Lirica Infantil," "De Colores" and "Diez Deditos" will perform Latin songs from his books and recordings. For more information, call 733-3642.
Light of the Night Walk on Sunday
The Las Vegas office of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society joins chapters all over the nation for the second annual Light the Night Walk Sunday.
Registration will be held 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Sunset Park, McLeod Drive and Sunset Road. The walk will begin immediately following registration.

For 11th annual Ice Cream Festival
The 11th annual All-You-Can-Eat Ice Cream Festival returns to Summerlin 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Willows Park, 2275 Desert Marigold Lane. The festival will benefit Nevada Ballet Theatre.
Ice cream and activities are all included in admission, which is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children over age 5. Kids under 5 are admitted free.

Goodwill open house
An open house showing off the renovation of the Goodwill thrift store will begin 11 a.m. Thursday at Goodwill of Southern Nevada, 4632 S. Maryland Parkway. Stop by to see the transition into a superstore.
Greek goodies
The Greek Food Festival is scheduled 5-11 p.m. Saturday; noon-11 p.m. Sunday; and noon-10 p.m. Monday at St. John Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 S. El Camino Road. For more information, call 248-3896.
Chapel dedication
The new chapel and facilities dedication of Community Church of Henderson will be 5 p.m. Saturday at 360 E. Horizon Drive. A potluck dinner is planned following the dedication service. For more information, call 566-8986.
Learn the desert
The Clark County Library presents "Desert Series," a program for ages 6-12 at 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Oct. 25. The series teaches children about the Southern Nevada desert. For more information, call 733-3616.
Vegetarian cooking
A vegetarian-cooking workshop is being hosted 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive. Call 450-5885.
