Letter: Get behind Wynn’s vision
Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000 | 9:46 a.m.
When the Sands was to be imploded the employees who had to find jobs elsewhere were angry and many Las Vegans bemoaned the loss of a landmark. Then came the Venetian. I feel compassion for the laid-off workers, but I'm confident they have found new jobs.
Now Steve Wynn bought the Desert Inn and intends to implode it in order to build something much more beautiful. What's the matter with all of you angry people? That's his prerogative, just as it would be yours if you had made the purchase. Get over it!
And please recognize a visionary when you see one. Steve Wynn has done more for this city single-handedly than anyone else in the over 24 years I've lived here.
