Universal Health Services Inc., operator of three hospitals in Las Vegas, said Monday it expects to report third quarter profits of 68 cents a share, exceeding consensus estimates of 56 cents a share and doubling its year-ago figure of 34 cents.
The King of Prussia, Pa., company operates the Valley Health System in Las Vegas. The system includes Valley, Desert Springs and Summerlin hospitals.
Universal said its hospitals in Las Vegas and Amarillo, Texas, are performing better and the improvement will help its profit.
Separately, Tenet Healthcare Corp. said it expects to exceed profit estimates for its fourth quarter, which ended Aug. 31. Based in Santa Barbara, Calif., Tenet owns Lake Mead Hospital in North Las Vegas.
