Greenspun center offering screenings
The Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence is offering its second annual His and Her Health Awareness Week with free clinical breast exams and prostate or testicular cancer screenings.
The free and low-cost screenings will be held until 5 p.m. today at St. Rose Dominican Professional Center, 6301 Mountain Vista St.; 4-8 p.m. Thursday at St. Rose Dominican Hospital -- Siena Campus, Suite 208; and 9 am.-3 p.m. Saturday in St. Rose Medical Plaza, 98 Lake Mead Drive, Henderson. Educational program helps patients, families
The National Kidney Foundation will hold a one-day educational program for dialysis patients, transplant recipients, donor families, friends and family Saturday at Harrah's hotel-casino.
Medical and bereavement professionals will host sessions that address key issues in transplantation today, including communication between transplant recipients and donor families and ethical concerns relating to organ allocation.

Membership drive on tap this week
The Southern Nevada Alzheimer's Association is holding its annual membership drive 6-7 p.m. Thursday at the Epoch Assisted Living of Las Vegas, 8720 W. Flamingo Road.
This is an opportunity to learn more about available services provided by the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, how the chapter effects positive change and what challenges lie ahead for the chapter and the community.

Pediatric AIDS group to benefit
Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity and the Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Zeta and Sigma Kappa sororities are sponsoring the fourth annual "Bounce For Beats" event to benefit the Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
The event will begin 11 a.m. Wednesday at UNLV in the Valerie Pida Plaza.
Chapter members and sorority members will be bouncing basketballs continuously for 72 hours to raise money for the Pediatric AIDS Foundation. For more information, call Chris Rawlins at 262-2070.
Elder abuse
A Metro Police representative will discuss how to recognize elder abuse during a program scheduled 2-3 p.m. Wednesday at Valley Hospital Medical Center, 620 Shadow Lane. For more information, call 388-4665.
Childish grief
Camp Mariposa, which is designed to help children who have lost loved ones through the grief process, is offering a program for kids 6-11 Friday through Sunday. Cost for the program, sponsored by Nathan Adelson Hospice, is $75, and scholarships are available. For more information, call 733-0230.
Second time around
The Las Vegas Valley Senior Friends is offering the program "Physical and Emotional Intimacy in the Later Years" 1:30-3 p.m. Monday in the Howard W. Cannon Center, 340 N. 11th St. For more information, call 836-5803.
Immunizations
Health district immunization clinics are open each week in Southern Nevada. Immunizations are provided without charge to children and young adults under the age of 21 in any of four public health centers and 15 satellite clinics. The following clinics will be open this week, Sept. 20-26:

EAST LAS VEGAS PUBLIC HEALTH CENTER: 560 N. Nellis Blvd., Suite E12, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NORTH LAS VEGAS FAMILY HEALTH CENTER: 2225 Civic Center Drive, Suite 240C, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
FAMILY TO FAMILY: No. 12, 1313 E. Karen Ave., 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday.
EOB NORTH LAS VEGAS WIC: 5A E. Tonopah Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
DESERT BREEZE CLINIC: 8275 Spring Mountain Road, noon-4 p.m. Friday.
FREMONT MEDICAL CLINIC: 4880 S. Wynn Road, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. Immunizations free to anyone who walks in.
RAINBOW LIBRARY: 3150 N. Buffalo Drive, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 26.
NORTHEAST WIC CLINIC: 2404 E. Stewart Ave., 9 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. Sept. 26.
SCORE schedules workshop Thursday
The Las Vegas Chapter of Service Corps of Retired Executives will present "How to Really Start Your Own Business," a workshop at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the Foley Federal Building, 300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Suite 1100.
SCORE counselors will cover marketing, cash flow, the business plan and a check list for licensing, permits and other requirements.
The cost is $45 and includes a 292-page reference manual and a workbook. Call 388-6104.
