Federal probe starts in crash
Federal safety investigators Thursday visited the remote site of a tour bus crash that injured dozens of British travelers near Tonopah a week ago.
Fifteen of the most seriously injured in the crash that hurt all 41 on board remained hospitalized in Reno and Las Vegas.
Hospital officials changed their description Thursday of one woman who earlier was reported to have lost both arms in the accident as the bus slid down the highway on its side.
Contrary to the hospital's report the night of the accident, Kathleen Robinson's arms have not been amputated, said Rick Plummer, a spokesman for University Medical Center.
Unmanned craft goes down on range
An unmanned remote-controlled aircraft crashed on the Nellis Air Force Range Thursday morning.
The unmanned RQ-1A Predator, part of the 15th Reconnaissance Squadron, crashed about seven miles north of Indian Springs.
The $3 million aircraft is a medium-altitude, long-endurance craft designed for reconnaissance and surveillance.
Both the 11th and 15th Reconnaissance Squadrons currently operate Predators out of the Indian Springs auxiliary airfield. The crash remains under investigation, a Nellis spokesman said.
Fourth suspect in attack arrested
A 20-year-old man was in the Clark County jail this morning accused of being the fourth person involved in the June 14 restaurant robbery and shooting of a Metro Police officer.
Terrance Winn was jailed Wednesday night on unrelated charges. Detectives questioned him Thursday about the robbery and shooting and then booked him on charges of attempted murder of a police officer, robbery, burglary and kidnapping, Lt. Wayne Petersen said.
Three men robbed a Macayo Vegas restaurant, and one of them shot Officer Pete Rossi, blinding him in one eye.
