Fourth LV electric rate increase request to be filed
Friday, Sept. 15, 2000 | 11:18 a.m.
Nevada Power Co. planned today to file its fourth rate increase request since August, boosting consumer bills in Clark County by another 1.3 percent.
A spokesman said this would mean an increase of $1.04 a month for homeowners who use an average 1,100 kilowatt hours.
And it would bring the total increases to 8.3 percent since the approval by the state Public Utilities Commission of the "Global Settlement" allowing Nevada electric companies to raise rates to recover the increased cost of fuel or purchased power.
It does not mean an increase in profits for the firm.
Sierra Pacific Power Co., of Reno, the sister company of Nevada Power, was also expected later today to file its first rate increase under the settlement agreement.
