STEVEN JACKSON
School: Eldorado
Class: Senior
Sport: Football
Last week: Jackson rushed for 183 yards on 25 carries and scored four touchdowns, leading the Sundevils to a 34-20 win over then-No. 6 ranked Bishop Gorman. The 6-1, 210-pound running back also completed a 38-yard pass to set up his second touchdown, and intercepted a pass at the goal line to stop a Gaels' drive in the fourth quarter. "He stepped up both ways for us," Eldorado coach Ken Trujillo said. "In the fourth quarter, he knew we needed to hold onto the ball and run some clock, and he never wanted to come out of the game." For the season, Jackson has 351 yards on 51 attempts, an average of 6.8 yards per carry.
CHELSEA PENDLETON
School: Green Valley
Class: Freshman
Sport: Golf
Last week: Pendleton earned medalist honors in two Green Valley victories, helping the Gators extend their winning streak to 106 consecutive dual matches, 14 shy of the all-time national record. After shooting a 44 at par-36 Black Mountain Golf & Country Club in a win over Basic last Tuesday, Pendleton scored a 36 at par-30 Desert Willow Golf Course in a victory over Silverado on Thursday. Pendleton's older sister, Ashlei, was a four-year varsity golfer for Green Valley before graduating in 1998. "She watched her sister play and I'm sure there were discussions about the streak," Gators coach Jim Nicksick said. "She's in the first group, going against the top girls from each team."
