Burglar caught answering victim’s door
Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2000 | 4:25 a.m.
Sparks police arrested an alleged burglar who answered the door of the home he was burglarizing on Monday dressed in the victim's clothes.
Mark Anthony Jacques, 36, of Sparks was booked on charges of residential burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia, which police found in his original clothes stashed in a storage shed.
A neighbor called police when he saw a man wearing shorts peer into the backyard of a nearby house and then jump the fence.
When an officer knocked on the door, a man dressed in slacks and a shirt opened the door.
About the same time, the home's owner walked up.
Jacques then told police that his truck had overheated and he was looking for water and grabbed the shirt and slacks off a clothesline when he heard police pulling up.
Jacques told police he put his own clothes in the backyard storage shed. Officers found tinfoil with methamphetamine residue and a device used to snort the drug inside the pockets.
