Station Casinos Inc. of Las Vegas today announced plans for a $100 million expansion of the Santa Fe hotel-casino in northwestern Las Vegas, which Station is buying.
The announcement was made at today's meeting of the state Gaming Control Board, which recommended the Nevada Gaming Commission approve Station's purchase of the Santa Fe when the commission meets later this month.
The expansion will add 1,000 slot machines, a 12-screen theater, a 2,400-space parking structure, a child care center and a food court.
Station said the property will ultimately employ 1,500 people, up from the current 900. But employment will temporarily decline substantially beginning next month as substantial parts of the casino are closed for construction. Completion of the renovation is set for mid-2002.
