Vegas cigar maker sues state in taxation dispute
Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2000 | 11 a.m.
A Las Vegas cigar maker is seeking restitution from the Nevada Department of Taxation, alleging it was wrongfully forced to pay thousands of dollars in taxes when the tax statutes apply only to wholesale and retail dealers.
In a Clark County District Court Lawsuit, Don Pablo Cigar Co. sued the taxation department, alleging the cigar maker was wrongfully threatened with civil liability and criminal prosecution and forced to pay wholesale dealer taxes and keep records of its sales over several years.
The defendant could not be reached.
