Four California youths arrested in carjacking
Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 | 4:45 a.m.
Police said the 81-year-old victim was severely beaten and suffered major injuries about 10 hours before their arrests Friday evening.
The youths, whose names weren't released, were found in a stolen car parked in an industrial area here.
Police said an investigation revealed the youths were in the process of trying to steal another car to return to California when the arrests were made.
Some Nevada Sea Food employees alerted police to suspicious activity in the area and officers soon located the youths in the stolen car.
The juveniles, whose ages range from 12 to 17, were booked into a Reno juvenile detention center for possession of stolen property and conspiracy to commit grand larceny.
The case is under investigation by both Sparks and Marysville police.
