Pilot uninjured in small plane crash near Minden
Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 | 8:55 a.m.
The plane went down about 2 p.m. just north of the runways at the airport south of Johnson Lane in the Carson Valley, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office said.
The newer, six-passenger Beachcraft Bonanza valued at approximately $200,000 suffered substantial damage, the sheriff's office said in a statement.
The identity of the pilot was unknown.
The plane was just taking off when the pilot noticed engine trouble and attempted to turn the plane back around for a landing. But the plane lost power and the pilot was forced to crash land in the sagebrush, the sheriff's office said.
The National Transportation Safety Board was contacted and will investigate the accident.
