Joe Delaney remembers 1959: McGuire Sisters at the Desert Inn

The McGuire Sisters had a mega-hit in the 1950s with "Sincerely," earning the trio headline billing at the Desert Inn in 1959. Phyllis McGuire, a longtime Las Vegas resident, also had a successful solo career here later, co-starring with Johnny Carson and other top headliners. Several years ago the McGuires reuinited and have sine performed nationally at the Desert Inn and Orleans hotels. Paul Gilbert was a hip comic who worked in Vaudeville, primarily with big bands. The late Donn Arden's Dancers were a regular DI feature. Arden went on to produce and direct spectaculars at the Desert Inn, the Stardust "Lido," and "Jubilee" at Bally's.
