Letter: Public prayer is a God-given right
Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000 | 9:43 a.m.
There can be no separating religion from government because our rights come from being born, (also known as God-given rights). The correct use of government is to protect these rights. The entire premise of liberalism is that government is the grantor of rights and those who exercise them contrary to that purpose are "oppressors," forcing their ideas on others.
The Supreme Court has no right to say that people cannot pray in inappropriate places, such as football games. Clarence Page is speaking from the heart, but he is still wrong.
