North Las Vegas Police officers are investigating Tuesday night's officer-related shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured.
An officer on bike patrol around 11:30 p.m. near downtown fired two rounds into a car that was heading at a high rate of speed toward him and his partner, said Lt. Art Redcay.
The officer, fearing for his life and his partner's, shot at the driver of the car following a pursuit that ended with the car accelerating toward the officers, Redcay said. The officers were not injured.
The 36-year-old male driver was shot in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.
A 26-year-old female passenger was shot in the arm. She was treated at University Medical Center and is being questioned as a witness at this time, Redcay said.
This is the second officer involved shooting in the city during the past week that resulted in the death of a suspect.
