Robert Andrews

Robert Andrews, 33, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Dec. 6, 1966, in Anaheim, Calif. A resident for nine years, he was a convenience store manager.

He is survived by two sisters, Rindy Andrews of Santa Ynez, Calif., and Rhonda Rohde of Lompoc, Calif.; and one brother, Rodney Fegenbush of Carpinteria, Calif.

Manfred Berger

Manfred Berger, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local health care center. He was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Breslau, Germany. A resident for five years, he was a retired civil engineer, a World War II Army veteran, a member of the Jewish War Veterans, Knights of Pythias and American Academy of Environmental Engineers and a life member of American Water Works Association.

He is survived by two daughters, Marilyn Berger of Rochester, N.Y., and Linda Roochvarg of Charlotte, N.C.; one son, Howard Berger of Norwalk, Conn.; and five grandchildren.

Services were scheduled at 11:30 a.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., at 1:30 p.m. today in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Madeline Brown

Madeline Brown, 39, of Henderson died Sunday in Boulder City. She was born July 14, 1961, in New York state. A resident for 12 years, she was a bank manager.

She is survived by her husband, Aaron; her parents, Rafael and Virgen Garcia, and two brothers, Wilfred Garcia and Richard Rodriguez, all of New York state; and two sisters, Elizabeth Poulos of New Hampshire and Emily Garcia of Utah.

Leon Danzig

Leon Danzig, 90, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born June 18, 1910, in New York state. A resident for 20 years, he was a store owner and an Army veteran.

He is survived by three sons, Joel Danzig of New Jersey, Michael Danzig of Ohio and Daniel Danzig of Connecticut.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in New Jersey. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Mabel L. Dygert

Mabel L. Dygert, 93, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A resident for 43 years, she was born March 28, 1907, in Gatesville, N.C.

She is survived by one daughter, Margaret Childress, and one son, Jesse Jones, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Pauline Thomas; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Raymond O. Faruch

Raymond O. Faruch, 83, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born March 10, 1917, in Pennsylvania. A resident for 45 years, he was a retired cabdriver/dispatcher and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son, Frank; one daughter, Elena; two brothers, Floyd and Buddy; four sisters, Christina, Maggie, Jeannie and Viola; and two grandchildren.

John Garvin

John Garvin, 59, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born March 12, 1941, in Michigan. A resident for many years, he did telemarketing and was a Navy veteran.

He is survived by one son, Jeffery Garvin of Michigan; and one daughter, Shannon Garvin of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Visitation is scheduled 2 p.m. Friday in Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson.

Irene Rahila Haskins

Irene Rahila Haskins, 81, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. She was born April 6, 1919, in Omaha, Neb. A resident for 10 years, she was a waitress.

She is survived by her life companion, Russell Rego of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to noon services Friday in Desert Memorial Cremation and Burial Society, 1111 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Wilda Mighnon Hawkins

Wilda Mighnon Hawkins, 69, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospice. She was born Oct. 23, 1930, in Louann, Ark. A resident for 50 years, she was a retired gaming cashier.

She is survived by one son, Keith Edward Hawkins Jr. of Las Vegas; two daughters, Constance Elaine Morris of Camden, Ark., and Brenda Kay Babcock of National City, Calif.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in Camden. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Allen L. Hunt

Allen L. Hunt, 77, of Pahrump died Sunday in Pahrump. He was born Sept. 22, 1922, in Killam, Alberta. A resident for 20 years, he was an appliance repairman, a World War II Navy veteran and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Lanell; four daughters, Karen Shapiro of Santa Maria, Calif., Jackie Gorrell of San Antonio, Teri Baltzer of Burbank, Calif., and Susan Williams of California; two sons, Wayde Baltzer of Chino Hills, Calif., and Gary Baltzer of Burbank; and 12 grandchildren.

Bonnie Jean Ingstad

Bonnie Jean Ingstad, 55, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 22, 1945, in Virginia. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Edward B. Jr.; one daughter, Sherry Ingstad of Washington, D.C.; one son, Keith Ingstad of Apple Valley, Minn.; and her mother and stepfather, Helen and George Katsarelis of Tarpon Springs, Fla.

Richard David Johnson

Richard David Johnson, 58, of Las Vegas died Aug. 19 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 9, 1941, in Wisconsin. A resident for most of his life, he was a real estate salesman and a Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Christina and Kathy; two brothers, Craig and Ken; and three sisters, Audrey Findley, Darlene Doyoe and Kathy Doyoe.

Theodore Eugene Johnson

Theodore Eugene Johnson, 75, of Trumann, Ark., died Aug. 25 in a Reno care center. He was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Piggott, Ark. A former Las Vegas resident, he was the executive director of Opportunity Village from 1967 to 1973, executive director of statewide associations for retarded citizens in Pennsylvania and California, a newspaper columnist and director of the town museum in Trumann, a World War II Navy veteran and served as an officer on the USS Tranquility.

He is survived by two sons, Theodore Eric Johnson of Mishawaka, Ind., and Eric Eugene Johnson of Reno; one daughter, Sarah Dean Johnson of New York City; and one brother, Gary Johnson.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in Piggott.

Marilyn T. Judd

Marilyn T. Judd, 41, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born March 25, 1959, in Manila, Philippines. A resident for 15 years, she was a massage therapist and a veteran of the Philippine Air Force.

She is survived by her husband, Lionel Birt; one son, Marc Nicholas Paige, and one daughter, Keira Melissa Paige, both of Las Vegas; her mother, Pastora Triste of Manila; and her ex-husband, William Paige of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Saturday in the Walnut and Carey LDS Chapel. Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Alwin B. Kallsen

Alwin B. Kallsen, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1924, in Ocheyedan, Iowa. A resident for 36 years, he was retired from Cashman Cadillac after 23 years, a member of Southwest Rotary and a former member of Sun City Men's Niners Golf Club.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; one son, Scott Kallsen of Las Vegas; one daughter, Nancy Kallsen Perkins of Bakersfield, Calif.; four sisters, Ruth King of Minneapolis, Esther Ehlert of Dexter N.M.; Betty Kriegel of Las Cruces, N.M., and Joanne Busler of Omaha, Neb.; one brother, Clarence Kallsen of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Katherine M. Kvarfordt, 42, of Henderson died Monday in Henderson. She was born April 29, 1958, in Boise, Idaho. A resident for 10 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Tracy; one daughter, Tera Kvarfordt, and three sons, Devon Kvarfordt, Milo Kvarfordt and Blake Kvarfordt, all of Henderson; her parents, Joaquina and Glen Sheppard of St. George, Utah; one brother, Kirk Sheppard of Shelley, Idaho; and five sisters, Gail Walker of Ventura, Calif., Joaquina Alterman of Simi Valley, Calif., Maria Bateman of Portland, Ore.; Dian Pead of St. George, Utah, and Sara Sheppard of Los Angeles.

George Henry Lawrence Jr.

George Henry Lawrence Jr., 78, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Illinois. A resident for nine months, he was a machinist on heavy equipment and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie; one son, Mike Lawrence of Las Vegas; and one sister, Sophie Hendrickson of Peoria, Ill.

Ziad Madanat

Ziad Madanat, 52, of Las Vegas died Aug. 27 in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 30, 1947, in New York state. A resident for 15 years, he was a schoolteacher.

He is survived by one son, Tarik Madanat, one daughter, Nada Madanat, and two sisters, Zein Ghazel and Jackie Martinez, all of Las Vegas; and two brothers, Salman Madanat of Fullerton, Calif., and Ghalib Madant of Oceanside, Calif.

Karen Sue Nealy

Karen Sue Nealy, 64, of Las Vegas died Aug. 22 in a local care center. She was born Dec. 29, 1935, in Kansas. A resident for two years, she was self-employed in the answering service business.

She is survived by one son, Richard Shaw; and one daughter, Lorrie Herico.

Bernard 'Ben' Nygaard

Bernard "Ben" Nygaard, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Henderson. He was born June 30, 1930, in Sioux Falls, S.D. A resident for three years, he was an insurance manager for 25 years and an Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; one daughter, Karen Nygaard of Phoenix; three sons, Leif Nygaard of Eagan, Minn., Kris Nygaard of Houston and Mark Nygaard of Glendale, Ariz.; four brothers, Joseph Nygaard of Banning, Calif., and Norman Nygaard, Everett Nygaard and Douglas Nygaard, all of Beresford, S.D.; and four grandchildren.

Spencer Johnson Palmer

Spencer Johnson Palmer, 86, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1913, in Columbia, Mo. A resident for one year, he was a retired painting contractor and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Donna Dunham and Jenni Price, both of Kingman, Ariz., and Jan Freeman of Las Vegas; one brother, Kendall Palmer of Inglewood, Colo.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

William J. Pankratius

William J. Pankratius, 60, of Henderson died Sunday in Henderson. He was born Aug. 12, 1940, in New York City. A resident for 11 years, he was a university associate professor, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran and an active member of numerous local, national and international science education, research organizations and honor societies.

He is survived by his wife, Celine S.; and one son, Gilbert Pankratius of Indianapolis.

Carmella Pello, 74, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local care center. She was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Nebraska. A resident for 20 years, she was a homemaker.

Flora Pierre, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 26, 1927, in Mississippi. A resident for 17 years, she was a pharmaceutical technician.

She is survived by one son, Adrian Pierre of Las Vegas; and three sisters, Lena Collins and Robbie Staples, both of Las Vegas, and Olivia L. Gibson of Warrenville, Ohio.

Evelyn E. Reitz, 85, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 18, 1914 in Bakersfield, Calif. A resident for 26 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Brown and Christine Lueck, both of Henderson, and Sylvia Rieg of Lower Burrell, Pa.; one son, Phillip Reitz of New Kensington, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Francisco Sanchez Jr., 25, of North Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 16, 1974, in Mexico. A resident for four years, he was a tile setter in the construction industry.

He is survived by two sons, Ethan Sanchez and Ryan Sanchez, both of North Las Vegas; his mother, Ana Lilia-Navarro of California; his father, Francisco Sanchez Sr., and three brothers, Manuel, Victor and Ulises, all of Mexico; and three sisters, Lilia Sanchez and Norma L. Sanchez, both of California, and Verocina Sanchez of North Las Vegas.

Paul M. Shumway, 80, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local convalescent hospital. He was born Nov. 4, 1919, in Cape May, N.J. A resident for 3 1/2 years, he was retired as an insurance salesman after 20 years, was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.

He is survived by his companion, Alma Whisenant of Las Vegas; two sons, Paul E. Shumway of Pennsylvania and Alan Shumway of California; one sister, Marguerite Hamilton of California; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Melba K. Stewart, 80, of Henderson died Monday in a local health care center. She was born Oct. 2, 1919, in Burley, Idaho. A resident for 19 years, she was a homemaker, first president of the Sunrise Ladies Golf Association and former president of the La Mancha Homeowners Association.

She is survived by her husband, Neil S.; two daughters, Mary Kuhlenschmidt of Nuevo, Calif., and Vickie Kunst of Pleasanton, Calif.; one brother, Donald Richardson of Portland, Ore.; and one grandchild.

Thomas R. Thomie, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospice. He was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Kansas. A resident for 33 years, he was a technical supervisor at the Nevada Test Site.

He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; three sons, John Roks, Michael Roks and Brett Roks; one daughter, Janel Kieth; his mother, Lucille Thomie; one sister, Barbara Berg; and 10 grandchildren.

Ted Weiss, 76, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 23, 1923, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for seven years, he was a retired hardware salesman and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sons, David Weiss of Los Angeles and Steven Weiss of San Luis Obispo, Calif.; one sister, Estelle Allan of Encino, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Roberta A. Yonan, 64, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 12 years, she was an EKG technician.

She is survived by one son, Phillip Yonan of Nevada; one brother, Louis Kahn of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.
