Letter: Casino is blind to animals’ plight

Elephants are social animals who naturally spend most of their lives with others of their kind, enjoying rich relationships amongst herd members over long life spans.
The barbaric methods used to train elephants for entertainment purposes have been exposed on television in recent years, resulting in many members of the public refusing to pay to see such repugnant "entertainment," and many nonprofit organizations fighting to forever end such abuse.
Contrary to Walt Disney, wild animals do not become domesticated because they have been held in captivity, and no amount of petting, gentle coaxing, or food will entice an elephant to stand on its head.
Electric cattle prods, bull hooks, and frequent beatings are used to condition elephants to perform such unnatural acts.
PETA's attempt to remove elephants and other wildlife from entertainment is not a "fund-raising ploy," it is a moral imperative.
