Meeting open to all art enthusiasts
The Desert Sculptors Association will be holding a free meeting at 11 a.m. Saturday at John Pacheco's Studio, 12 N. 27th St.
The meeting is open to anyone interested in sculpture or art. Bring your portfolio to share with other talented artists. Meet and network with local artisans.

Parents will learn how to help kids
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor a Middle School Math for Moms and Dads workshop 1:30-3 p.m. Saturday at the Silver Springs Recreation Center, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway. Participation is $20.
An experienced middle school math teacher will teach parents how to help their children with their math homework. For more information, call 435-3814.
CCSN schedules its annual event
The Community College of Southern Nevada's Student Service Center is hosting its annual autumn job fair 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday on the Henderson campus, 700 College Drive.
Employers throughout the Las Vegas Valley are scheduled to attend the event, including Bechtel Nevada, Metro Police Department, Cox Communications, Wal-Mart, the Reserve hotel-casino, UPS, Target and many more.

Classes planned on landscaping
The Desert Demonstration Gardens, 3701 W. Alta Drive, will host landscape retrofit classes 6:30 p.m. Sept. 13 through Nov. 2.
The instructor, Mel Hengen, will demonstrate how to convert a water-wasting lawn into water-efficient and attractive landscape. For more information, call 257-5555.
Awards banquet
The Latin Chamber of Commerce is holding its annual awards banquet beginning with the reception at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Luxor. The speaker will be Alan Feldman. Reservation is $100 per person. To RSVP, call 385-7367.
Grandparents as Parents
A new support group called GAP (Grandparents as Parents) will meet 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Division of Child and Family Services office, 145 Panama St., Henderson. Any relative who is caring for a child is invited. Call Jane Horner, 293-0890.
