Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000 | 10:54 a.m.

Eller Media Co., the Phoenix-based subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications Inc., San Antonio, said Friday it acquired the outdoor advertising business of Donrey Media Group.

In a separate deal, the company also acquired Triumph Taxi Advertising LLC, Las Vegas, which does business as Taxi Tops.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

The deals expand Eller into 10 new markets, including Las Vegas. Donrey has about 1,000 billboards and 25 employees in the Las Vegas market and a sister company separately publishes the Las Vegas Review-Journal newspaper, which was not part of the transaction.

Taxi Tops has 25,000 top, trunk and wrap displays on 8,400 taxi cabs in 13 markets, including Las Vegas, where it has ads on 1,100 cabs operated by several different companies.

The company that owned Taxi Tops, 4577 Industrial Road, was led by Las Vegas businessman Laurence Hallier, who entered the local market in July 1995. The company, which has 30 local employees, also publishes 24/7 magazine, which is distributed in cabs.

Clear Channel operates radio stations KSNE 106.5-FM, KFMS 101.9-FM, KWNR 95.5-FM and KQOL 93.1-FM in the Las Vegas market and plans to package outdoor advertising with broadcast spots.
