UNLV's Southern Nevada Index of Leading Economic Indicators posted a gain of 1.14 percent in August from July as taxable sales jumped 7.64 percent, convention attendance improved 4.57 percent and McCarran International Airport traffic increased 1.84 percent.
And compared to the year-ago month, seven of the index's ten indicators posted increases with gross gaming revenue up 7.79 percent.
UNLV's Center for Business and Economic Research said, "All in all, the index continues to track upward, suggesting a growing economy for the last half of the year."
