Calvin E. Boland

Calvin E. Boland, 88, of Boulder City died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 30, 1911, in Lincoln County, Okla. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired owner-operator of a painting contracting business and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille A.; two daughters, Jacalyn Woods of Las Vegas and Sandra Wiley of Arlington, Texas; one son, John Boland of Grand Prairie, Texas; one stepson, Michael Cook of Stockton, Calif.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

John Botos Sr.

John Botos Sr., 74, of Henderson died Saturday in Henderson. He was born April 28, 1926, in Middletown, Ohio. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired bar manager, a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, a charter member of the Chief Petty Officers Association and a member of the Fleet Reserves.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; one daughter, Deborah Wurdock of Henderson; two sons, John Botos Jr. of Las Vegas and Richard Botos of Middletown; three sisters, Ester Greenwell and Sue Nicholas, both of Middletown, and Helen Schultz of Green Valley, Calif.; one brother, Robert Botos of Loveland, Colo.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to the National Kidney Foundation of Nevada, 4100 Boulder Highway, Las Vegas, NV 89121.

Frances J. Ferrise

Frances J. Ferrise, 89, of Henderson died Dec. 9, 1999, in Henderson. She was born Sept. 18, 1910, in New York City. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired seamstress for an automobile manufacturer.

She is survived by one son, Ron Ferrise of Henderson.

Burial was in Washington state. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, handled arrangements.

Marion Fayz Florence

Marion Fayz Florence, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 10, 1935, in Dearborn, Mich. A resident for 33 years, she was a retired dealer and a former executive secretary for Ford Motor Co.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald; one sister, Dorothy Ahee of Tucson, Ariz.; and two brothers, Norman Fayz of Dearborn Heights, Mich., and Freddie Fayz of Farmington Hills, Mich.

Visitation is scheduled 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will be private.

Rosalva O. Flores

Rosalva O. Flores, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in North Las Vegas. A resident for 64 years, she was born March 24, 1918, in Mexico.

She is survived by two sons, Rupert Flores Jr. and Robert Flores, and two daughters, Elizabeth Campos and Raquel Chiles, all of North Las Vegas; three brothers, Frank Ozuna of Los Angeles and Andre Ozuna and Richard Ozuna, both of Las Vegas; two sisters, Lupe Corrall of Las Vegas and Eleanor Hernandez of Los Angeles; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 9 a.m. until noon services Wednesday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A private burial will follow.

Manuel E. 'Mike' Heina

Manuel E. "Mike" Heina, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. He was born June 29, 1924, in Louisville, Ky. A resident for 16 years, he retired as a Navy radioman chief after 20 years and was a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, worked 12 years in civil service and 10 years at Boeing Aircraft.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie; one daughter, Stephanie Chadd of Seattle; one sister, Mary H. Miles of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling private arrangements.

Harriet Diane Horwitz

Harriet Diane Horwitz, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 17, 1923, in Jamaica, N.Y. A resident for 15 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Edward; three daughters, Beth Horwitz and Marian Allison, both of Las Vegas, and Claire Luzil of Levittown, N.Y.; one son, Anthony Minicozzi of Little Rock, Ark.; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in New York state. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Hugh E. Isaacs

Hugh E. Isaacs, 73, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Fort Smith, Ark. A resident for 50 years, he was a retired painter in the construction industry and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Winn of Anacortes, Wash.; one son, Hugh Isaacs Jr. of Las Vegas; three brothers, Bill Isaacs of Las Vegas, Charles Isaacs of Stockton, Calif., and Cyril Isaacs of Oregon; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Allyx Victoria McGinnis

Allyx Victoria McGinnis, 8, of Las Vegas died Aug. 29 in Las Vegas. A lifelong resident, she was born Sept. 24, 1991, in Las Vegas.

She is survived by her parents, Matthew and Rahnny McGinnis, two brothers, Robert McGinnis and Christopher McGinnis, one sister, Hannah McGinnis, and her grandparents, Gaetane and Robert McGinnis and Ron and Betty Prescott, all of Las Vegas.

Roy N. 'Murph' Murphy

Roy N. "Murph" Murphy, 83, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born May 23, 1917, in Jackson, Calif. A resident for 41 years, he was a retired head custodian, a World War II and Korean War Army and Navy veteran and a member of Elks Lodge 1468.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; and one daughter, Debra Alexandre of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Barbara Mae Myers

Barbara Mae Myers, 60, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 25, 1939, in Sonora, Calif. A resident for 33 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Bobbie; one son, Gary Myers of Port Orchard, Wash.; one daughter, Mary Hoyt, and her mother, Mary Atwood, both of Las Vegas; and five grandchildren.

Clarence Conrad Newman

Clarence Conrad Newman, 75, of Las Vegas died Aug. 18 in a local hospital. He was born April 6, 1925, in Saginaw, Mich. A resident for 35 years, he was an electrician for the federal government.

He is survived by one sister, Helen Schuett of Tucson.

Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.

Miguel Ocampo Jr.

Miguel Ocampo Jr., 67, of Las Vegas and Ohio died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 30, 1933, in the Philippines. A Las Vegas resident for six months of each year, he was a maintenance engineer for Ford Motor Co.

No local services are scheduled. Services will be in Ohio. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Alisha Parrish

Alisha Parrish, an infant, died Aug. 27, her date of birth, in a local hospital.

She is survived by her parents, Lisa and Steve Parrish of Las Vegas; and her grandparents, Harold and Lea Rae McGehee of Forth Worth, Texas, and Charles and Marlene Parrish of Las Vegas.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Larry B. Penney

Larry B. Penney, 55, of Henderson died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 27, 1944, in Walnut Ridge, Ark. A resident for 13 years, he was an attorney, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran and a member of the National Trial Lawyers Association.

He is survived by his wife, Gianna G.; four sons, Alex Harris, Matthew Harris, Joseph Penney and Jonathan Penney, all of Henderson.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

The family suggests donations to any children's charity.

Flora Schaeffer

Flora Schaeffer, 93, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for six years, she was born Aug. 28, 1907, in Virginia.

She is survived by two daughters, June A. Wood of Las Vegas and Betty Hunter of Virginia; two sons, William Stewart of Las Vegas and Robert Stewart of Virginia; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were scheduled at 1 p.m. today in Paradise Memorial Gardens. A memorial service was scheduled at 3 p.m. today in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd. Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., handled arrangements.

Florian James 'Flory' Slowinski

Florian James "Flory" Slowinski, 58, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A resident for 28 years, he was born March 29, 1942, in Milwaukee.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene A.; one daughter, Kim Marie Slowinski of Las Vegas; and one sister, Theresa Boquist of Henderson.

Visitation is scheduled noon-1 p.m. Wednesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

Teresa Spears

Teresa Spears, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. A Korean War Navy veteran, she was born Oct. 9, 1929, in Philadelphia.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; three daughters, Teresa Clemens and Mardette Ludwisewski, both of Henderson, and JoLene Radivan of Las Vegas; one son, Charles Spears III of Las Vegas; two sisters, Sister Joseph Irene and Sister Irene Elizabeth, both of Philadelphia; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 30 minutes prior to 11 a.m. services Wednesday in Christ the King Church, 4925 S. Torrey Pines Drive. A private burial will follow. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Elizabeth E. Wilson

Elizabeth E. Wilson, 64, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 12, 1936, in Yugoslavia. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired casino change person.

She is survived by her husband, Dale Ray; four daughters, Karol Lucan and Kelly Ortiz, both of Las Vegas, Debbie Volks of Bradenton, Fla., and Linda Brown of Columbus, Ohio; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 10 a.m. until noon services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Graveside services will follow in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.
