Man acquitted of Elko murder
Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2000 | 11:35 a.m.
Kevin R. Kolb, 35, of South Lyon, Mich., was immediately released from jail after an Elko District Court jury found him innocent last week.
Kolb was accused of killing Rafal Lajczak, 29, at the Hacienda Ranch brothel last Oct. 22.
The shooting occurred following an argument between Lajczak and a brothel patron over a comment Lajczak made concerning one of the prostitutes, investigators said.
Kolb went outside to get a gun and fired at Lajczak. Lajczak grabbed the gun at one point and also shot Kolb in the stomach.
Kolb lawyer Mark Torvinen asked the jury to consider what he called the lack of evidence against his client.
The jury deliberated for less than an hour before returning the verdict.
