PUC OKs rate increase
Friday, Sept. 1, 2000 | 11:15 a.m.
The Public Utilities Commission of Nevada formally approved a 1.33 percent electricity rate hike for Southern Nevada customers in a 2-1 vote Thursday.
The increase takes effect today and would raise the average residential customer's bill by $1.05 a month. The increase is in addition to a 4.7 percent bump that took effect Aug. 1. Commissioner Judy Sheldrew dissented.
Both increases were approved as part of a July settlement enabling the company to raise or lower rates monthly while the power industry is deregulated.
