Cunningham replaces Cyprien

Former Murray State and Minnesota assistant Charles Cunningham has been named to replace Glynn Cyprien on the UNLV men's basketball staff.
Cunningham, 46, is known as a solid recruiter, with NBA center Popeye Jones (Murray State) among his best-known discoveries.
Cunningham was an assistant at Minnesota from 1995-99, but was dismissed with all of Clem Haskins' staff after the discovery of rampant academic fraud in the program. That case is still being weighed by the NCAA enforcement staff, but Cunningham isn't implicated in any of the infractions.
A graduate of North Alabama, Cunningham also coached at Southwest Missouri State (1992-95), Western Kentucky (1988-92) and Murray State (1986-88).
Cyprien, the Rebels' chief recruiter, left the program last month for a similar post at Oklahoma State. The other finalists to replace him were former UNLV point guard Mark Wade, Youngstown State assistant Eric Skeeters and Tyler (Tex.) JC coach Chris Crutchfield.
